# Digital Signing

Add legally-binding electronic signatures to any document inside ERPNext. Sales orders, contracts, NDAs, HR forms, customer onboarding — anything you'd print, sign and scan today can stay digital end-to-end.

**Digital Signing is a separate app** that works on any Frappe DocType. ERPNext is its biggest user, but it doesn't require ERPNext to run.

## What it does

- **Signs documents in place** — generate a PDF from any DocType, drop a signature anchor on the page, and the signed PDF is attached back to the record. No third-party service.
- **Routes documents to external signers** — send a customer or supplier a portal link by email; they sign in their browser, the signed PDF lands back in ERPNext.
- **Multiple signature levels** — Simple (SES) for everyday signoffs, Advanced (AES) for value-bearing documents, Qualified (QES) for the highest legal tier (with a certified KYC provider like itsme).
- **Built-in certificate management** — every signer has their own certificate; you can issue them inside the platform or bring your own.

## Common ways Dutch businesses use it

- Sign every outgoing **Sales Order PDF** before emailing it to the customer
- Get customers to sign **service agreements** via a portal link instead of DocuSign
- Sign **employee contracts** with both employee and HR manager via the portal
- Sign **supplier NDAs** during onboarding, without printer/scanner
